The statues of St Thomas More, St John Fisher, St Michael, St Michael’s pedestal, canopy and the reredos in the Martyrs Chapel were all conservation cleaned. There was damage to the gilded background on the central panel of the reredos this was repaired with new gilding blended in to match the existing. There was damage to the hand and fingers of St Thomas More and St John Fisher. The hands and fingers were pegged with small wooden dowels then remodelled using artists clay and then coloured to match the original. Click on gallery photos to view restorative processes.
