The International Eucharistic Congress which should have been held in Hungary last year will take place in September (in a truncated form). Because many of those who would have hoped to travel to Budapest will not be able to do so there is to be a week of Masses celebrated at Corpus Christi church, Maiden Lane (13th-18th September) culminating in a Eucharistic Procession on Sunday (19th September) which will begin at the Assumption, Warwick Street and come via Farm Street and the Ukrainian Cathedral finishing with Solemn Benediction here in Spanish Place. More details nearer the time but let’s make these events a great (and public) demonstration of our love for Jesus Christ. Visit catholicengland.org.
It was back in the summer of 2019 that The Sixteen first launched their 20th anniversary Choral Pilgrimage programme The Call of Rome, with no idea that a global pandemic would hit before they ever got to perform it. So it is with much joy to announce that Spanish Place will be one of the venues on October 7th, with a double celebration marking both the Choral Pilgrimage‘s deferred 20th anniversary, and a welcome return to live music making. Tickets are available at thesixteen.com.
