The statue of the golden lady and her canopy were conservation cleaned. The right hand of Mary was broken and loose, we dowelled the wrist and refixed the hand. The most worn areas of gold were re gilded using genuine gold leaf. Mary’s shoes which had worn through were repainted red and a protective glaze was applied over the top. The faces and hands were enhanced with delicate colour washes. Click on gallery photos to view restorative processes.
