Holy Week

Holy Week

Lord Jesus Christ, reigning before the world began and reigning still with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, of whose kingdom there will be no end, in the fullness of time you came as the Law and the Prophets foretold, to save the human condition. And as you drew near to Jerusalem to keep the feast a great throng went out to meet you, joyfully seizing branches of palm and shouting ‘Hosanna to the Son of David’. We in turn now entreat your majesty, humbly praying that as you once came for our redemption you will release  us from the bondage of our sinful ways. Banish all sickness, heal our maladies, grant fair weather, pardon our failings and give us peace in our time. And for us who keep this lovely festival, fill our homes with your blessing, purify us in body and soul from every contagion, and grant us abundant graces of spirit, so that by your help, we may become worthy to keep a joyful Easter. Improperium exspectavit

Lenten Composers

We pray the seven last words of Jesus for those who, in so many countries of the world today, suffer injustice, thirst and isolation.

To God:
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”

To the “good thief”:
“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise”

To Mary, his mother:
“Woman, behold your son”... and to John: “Behold your mother”

To God, his Father:
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

To all:
“I thirst”

To the world:
“It is finished”

To God:
“Father, into your hands I commend my spirit”
